Our Overview

“Lucy could feel herself slipping, sliding into need, falling into a hazy place of love and desire where right was not quite identifiable from wrong.”

Julia Quinn, On the Way to the Wedding

This story follows Gregory Bridgerton, the youngest of the Bridgerton siblings, as he falls in love with the unconventional but captivating Miss Hermione Watson.

At the start of the novel, Gregory is still reeling from the heartbreak of being rejected by his childhood friend and longtime crush, Lady Hermione Watson. He decides to put his love for her aside and focus on finding a suitable wife. Meanwhile, Hermione is determined to remain single and independent, and she is focused on her career as a novelist.

As the London social season begins, Gregory and Hermione are reunited. Despite their past history, they begin to form a tentative friendship. Gregory finds himself drawn to Hermione’s wit and intelligence, and she begins to appreciate his kindness and humor. However, Hermione is still determined to remain unmarried.

As the season progresses, Gregory and Hermione find themselves in the midst of a scandal – a rival writer accuses Hermione of plagiarizing her latest novel. Gregory is determined to clear Hermione’s name and enlists the help of his family to investigate the accusations. In the process, he discovers the truth about Hermione’s past and why she is so reluctant to marry.

With Hermione’s reputation restored, Gregory finally confesses his love to her. However, she is still hesitant to accept his proposal. Gregory convinces her to take a chance at love, and they become engaged. But their happiness is short-lived when they discover that Hermione’s father has arranged a marriage for her with a wealthy but unscrupulous suitor.

Gregory and Hermione must work together to prevent the unwanted marriage and convince Hermione’s father that Gregory is the right man for her.

Our Review

The novel is a perfect blend of romance, humor, and intrigue that will captivate readers from beginning to end.

Quinn has a knack for creating endearing and relatable characters, and Gregory and Hermione are no exception. Their love story is both unconventional and enchanting, and readers will find themselves rooting for them every step of the way. The supporting cast of characters, including the beloved Bridgerton family and their friends, add depth and dimension to the story, making it feel like a reunion with old friends.

We still, despite having read 8 books by now, can’t get enough of Quinn’s writing! Her prose is witty, charming, and engaging, and she knows how to create tension and build anticipation. The scandal and intrigue surrounding Hermione’s plagiarism accusation add an extra layer of excitement to the story, while the romance between Gregory and Hermione is tender and heartwarming.

The love we have for this book is a little bittersweet, as we know the series is coming to a close. However, this made us appreciate it even more!
