Official Description

“‘It’s in his kiss,’ her mother whispered. ‘It’s all there, in his kiss.’

— Julia Quinn, It’s In His Kiss

Meet Our Hero . . .

Gareth St. Clair is in a bind. His father, who detests him, is determined to beggar the St. Clair estates and ruin his inheritance. Gareth’s sole bequest is an old family diary, which may or may not contain the secrets of his past . . . and the key to his future. The problem is—it’s written in Italian, of which Gareth speaks not a word.

Meet Our Heroine . . .

All the ton agreed: there was no one quite like Hyacinth Bridgerton. She’s fiendishly smart, devilishly outspoken, and according to Gareth, probably best in small doses. But there’s something about her—something charming and vexing—that grabs him and won’t quite let go . . .

Meet Poor Mr. Mozart . . .

Or don’t. But rest assured, he’s spinning in his grave when Gareth and Hyacinth cross paths at the annual—and annually discordant—Smythe-Smith musicale. To Hyacinth, Gareth’s every word seems a dare, and she offers to translate his diary, even though her Italian is slightly less than perfect. But as they delve into the mysterious text, they discover that the answers they seek lie not in the diary, but in each other . . . and that there is nothing as simple—or as complicated—as a single, perfect kiss.

Our Overview

“I am asking you to marry me because I love you,” he said, “because I cannot imagine living my life without you. I want to see your face in the morning, and then at night, and a hundred times in between.”

Julia Quinn, It’s In His Kiss

The return of our favorite series begins with Hyacinth attending a dinner party hosted by Lady Danbury, one of the most influential figures in society. At the party, Hyacinth meets Gareth St. Clair, the enigmatic and brooding grandson of Lady Danbury. Despite his reputation for being a rake and a scoundrel, Hyacinth finds herself inexplicably drawn to Gareth. However, their initial encounter is less than pleasant, as Gareth’s bad temper and Hyacinth’s sharp wit clash.

As the story progresses, Hyacinth and Gareth’s paths continue to cross, and they find themselves slowly getting to know each other. Hyacinth discovers that Gareth is secretly trying to translate a family diary written in Italian, which he believes contains information about his grandfather’s life. Hyacinth, who is fluent in Italian, offers to help Gareth translate the diary.

As Hyacinth and Gareth work together on the translation, they grow closer and develop feelings for each other. However, their relationship is complicated by Gareth’s family drama. His grandfather, who was a notorious gambler, lost everything and committed suicide, leaving Gareth’s father to pick up the pieces. Gareth’s relationship with his father is strained. He resents him for not taking better care of his grandfather.

Meanwhile, Hyacinth’s own family is going through a difficult time. Her brother Gregory has fallen in love with a woman who is engaged to someone else, causing tension in the Bridgerton household. Hyacinth’s parents are worried about Gregory’s heartbreak and try to keep him away from his love interest..

As Hyacinth and Gareth work together to uncover the secrets of the diary, they learn more about themselves and each other. Hyacinth realizes that Gareth is not the rake he appears to be, but a deeply sensitive and caring man. Gareth, in turn, learns to let go of his anger towards his father and reconcile with him.

In the end, Hyacinth and Gareth confess their love for each other, and Hyacinth helps Gareth uncover the truth about his grandfather’s life. The novel ends with Hyacinth and Gareth’s wedding, and the promise of a happy future together.

Our Review

The Bridgerton series is yet to give us a miss! Quinn is delivering hit after hit! Despite following the family for so long, we can’t get bored! As always, Quinn’s characters are well-developed and relatable, particularly Hyacinth, who is intelligent, sharp-tongued, and independent. Her chemistry with Gareth is electric, and their banter and growing affection for each other are heartwarming and endearing. The banter Quinn presents is natural and exceedingly fun to follow.

Family is always such an integral point in the Bridgeryon novels, but It’s In His Kiss provides us with some extra excitement! The exploration of family dynamics and relationships in the novel, particularly the complexities of the St. Clair family and their history is refreshing and exciting. Quinn skillfully weaves together various storylines and themes, creating a rich and satisfying narrative that left us feeling ever more satisfied and invested in the characters’ lives.

Overall, “It’s in His Kiss” is a charming and engaging romance novel that I would highly recommend to fans of the genre. It’s a perfect blend of humor, romance, and family drama that will leave readers feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
