Our Review
We’re sad to announce that this is the final book in The Dragon Heart Legacy series. We’re very happy to announce, however, that it is exciting and overall a wonderful end to an equally enjoyable series.
Breen has been developing her strength and confidence over the course of the novels, and in this final book we really see Breen shine. We pick up in the aftermath of a brutal batal. In the face of grief, we rebuild strength and morale. Breen strides forward with the need for world peace.
One of my favorite parts about novels has always been the community within the pages. Building a family from rag-tag nobodies and creating something wonderful and tightly woven with care and love. We see this here in the community which happily embraces Breen and Marcus. Through the series we’ve built immense love and loyalty within the community, and in The Choice, Nora Roberts does a wonderful job in exploring the many unique relationships within the story. Not just focus on the romance, but an intense tale of friendship, family, and all sorts of unique relationship colors. This really makes the story all the more impactful because we truly hear what Breen is fighting for.
Don’t let my sappy reminiscence on love and community mislead you, this novel is packed with action and suspense. We’re preparing for Odran’s attack, and the suspense is only intensified by the shifting perspectives between our heroes and Odran’s preparations. The dual perspective really juxtaposes the safe, loving community we see deep in the bones of Talamh.

The concluding battle, which the series has been bubbling up to, comes surprisingly late in the book. Some fans point this to their dislike, but personally, I found that it fits perfectly with the messages of the series. It was never a series about war, but rather about love. Love of family, heritage, culture, people, and the love that is woven deep in society which allows us to function as a community. This all is a commentary which works in dichotomy with the themes of power-hungry people, prejudice, and distrust.

I’m sorry to disappoint, but the trilogy is over. I’m not going to write a follow up—as all has been resolved—or a short story. There’s no actual plot or storyline. I do understand some readers want it to go on, but it has to end. And it did!
