From Fling To Ring by Mika Lane

Sexy hockey sensation Tyler Brooks has wagered he can turn any fling into the real thing in ninety days. Joke’s on him. The man’s about to be body-checked by reality.

What he doesn’t know is that he’s the main character in my icy exposé on how to resist men exactly like him. All in the name of investigative journalism.

Think of my not-so-undercover power play, to infiltrate the world of the city’s most charming and puckish hockey heartthrob, as a public service.

With steamy perks.

Yet as our game intensifies, so does the tension between us.

His smoldering glances and sly stick-handling skills are meant to be nothing more than fodder for my column, but I find myself tempted to join his fan club—for one.

This wasn’t the game plan.

Now I’m caught in a whirl of late-night locker room confessions, ice-melting kisses, and moments that blur the lines between a power play and something that’s starting to feel like a perfect match.

With my deadline looming, I remind myself that I’m here to create the ultimate playbook on dodging a heart-stealing, playboy hockey rogue.

Not fall for one.

Excerpt from From Fling To Ring by Mika Lane

“Shit, Chuck knows that Daph and I know each other,” I say when I reach Rake and Jonas.

Rake frowns. “What’s the big deal? Just tell him you dated her. He’ll eventually find out and
it’s beTer for him to hear it from you.”

I’m not one for difficult conversations, even though Daphne gave me a book with that exact

“I don’t know. I guess. It’s awkward, man. Why do people do this?”

Jonas looks at his phone like he does about a hundred times a day. He has two little ones at
home and even when he’s not with them, he follows their schedule with regular check-ins with
the nanny. “They do this, Ty, because people love hockey and women love hockey players.” He
tosses his head back and laughs at his joke.

I scoff. “They don’t all love us. I can assure you of that.”

“Look, Ty, don’t be so sore Daphne’s made off with another player. Hell, maybe something’ll
come of it, at least outside the bedroom. They could turn into a real couple, unlike what you
were able to accomplish,” he adds.

“Whatever,” I grouse, looking around for the team owner. Dammit, he still hasn’t even
gotten close to the podium to give his speech. I’ll never get out of here at a decent hour. “And
by the way, I’m not sore.”

“Nor should you be. Look, it never would have lasted, even if you were into her.”

“Yeah, Ty,” Rake says. “When was the last time you dated anyone for any length of time? It’s
just not your thing. Be happy for the woman. She moved on and found a new guy. You never
would have stuck with her. You never stick with anyone.”

“What’s that supposed to mean, I don’t stick with anyone?”

Jonas and Rake look at each other as the team owner taps the mic for everyone’s attention.

Thank fucking God.

“Ty, when was the last time you dated a woman for longer than a month or two?” Rake

“Oh my God, I’ve dated several women for longer than that.”

I run the names of the women I’ve dated over the last couple years through my mind like a
grocery list. A long one.

He may have a point.

“I don’t see what the big deal is.”

Rake lowers his voice further since the crowd is quietng. “It’s not a big deal. It’s just that
you can’t date anyone longer than a few weeks. It’s your fatal flaw.” He looks away, like the
discussion is over.

“That’s BS,” I say.

Jonas raises his eyebrows at me. “Shall we make a bet then? A bet that you can’t date a
woman for ninety days?”

God, he knows how to get my goat. That’s what happens when you’re friends with someone
for years.

I roll my eyes. “Not necessary. I can date a woman for that long, no problem.”

He shrugs, a challenging gleam in his eye. “Okay. Yeah sure. Whatever you say, Ty.”

The team owner starts his speech, welcoming everyone and expressing his certainty about
the strong season ahead of us. That familiar rush, that anything is possible on the ice, comes
flooding back to me and I feel a fire surge through my veins.

I’m excited for the season. I’m ready.

I want to get on that fucking ice.

Even though the guys’ comment hit me like some kind of slapshot to the chest.

Meet The Author of From Fling To Ring

From Fling To Ring by Mika Lane

M. Lane is the not-so-stealthy alter ego of USA TODAY bestselling contemporary romance author Mika Lane. She’s OBSESSED with bringing you sassy stories with imperfect heroines and the hot dudes they bring to their knees.

Please join my Insider Group and be the first to hear about giveaways, sales, pre-orders, ARCs, and most importantly, FREE sexy stories.

Writing has always been a passion of mine (my first book was The Day I Ate the Milkyway, a true fourth-grade masterpiece). These days, steamy romance, gives purpose to my days and nights as I create worlds and characters that defy the imagination. I live in magical Northern California with my own handsome alpha dude, sometimes known as Mr. Mika Lane, and two devilish cats named Chuck and Murray. These three males also defy my imagination from time to time.

A lover of shiny things, I’ve been known to try new recipes on unsuspecting friends, find hiding places so I can read undisturbed, and spend my last dollar on a plane ticket somewhere.

I’ll always promise you a hot, sexy romp and some version of a modern-day happily ever after. I LOVE to hear from readers when I’m not dreaming up naughty tales to share. Join my Insider Group so we can get to know each other better, or contact me here.

Interview with Mika Lane

Q: Tell us about your publishing journey. Did you always want to be an author?

ML: I always liked writing—any kind of writing. I wasn’t the best student, but if I could write a paper, I could usually get a good grade. I wish I’d studied English or journalism, but when I was in college, most everyone was pushed toward a major that would make it easier to eventually “get a job.” Yeah, right! So, I studied business and worked in PR and marketing for a long time, where I did get to write, but not fun, fiction stuff. Finally, I started writing romance while doing the corporate thing and when I got laid off from my last job, I was in a perfect position to go full-time as a romance author. I haven’t looked back!

Q: What is From Fling To Ring about?

ML: In a nutshell, this book is about finding love in unexpected places, which I think is how it happens for most of us. That’s how it went for Mister Mika Lane and me!

Q: How did you choose your setting?

ML: I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 30 years and I love it so much, that I figured I would finally set some stories here. It’s a fun and funky place and I hope the readers get a little taste of it through me.

Q: How many bookshelves are in your house?

ML: Not enough because there are PILES of books everywhere.

Q: What is your ideal writing space?

ML: I absolutely love my office. It’s fresh and girly, and Mister Mika Lane painted it pink for me.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a published author?

ML: The honor it is that someone spends some of their free time reading my books.

Q: Where can our readers find you on social media?

ML: You can find me on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.

This Or That:

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi, diet please.
Morning or Night? Nightowl!
Shower or Bath? Bath with bubbles.
City or Country? City.
Spiders or Snakes? No spiders, ever pleeeeze.
Summer or Winter? Winter, I love wearing thick sweaters and boots.
