He thought his life was perfect until two girls walked into his life… unexpectedly. I’m eight years into my professional hockey career when I come face to face with my one-night stand from my rookie season. Her auburn hair and full body makes me crave a second helping. Hell, maybe even a five course meal.
But right now, I have a daughter that was dropped off at my door. She won’t speak to me and I have no idea how to raise a child, much less a girl.
So, as much as I want to tell the ruby haired vixen that I remember who she is and that night is never far from my mind, I can’t. She’s my new teammate’s sister and my new little girl’s nanny.
Being around her every day is testing my resolve as our undeniable chemistry simmers under the surface. But if we act on our feelings, we could destroy her brother’s career.
Is blood thicker than water?

He stands me up, reaches for a controller, and soon slow jazz is playing in the background. “Dance with me.”
Romantic. Warm. Loving. Those are the three words I would use to describe this moment.
“It makes my skin crawl when you admit to thinking of another man. I know this is the get-to-know-you phase, but I feel like I already know you better than the girl I dated for years.”
“Bryce.” My fingers tangle in his hair. “Why is being with you so easy?”
“Is that what you wanted to talk about? Grant and not coming to the game?” he asks as he slides his hands under my sweater.
“Uh, huh.” He kisses my neck.
“Let’s put my MMA princess to bed, and then I’ll take care of you.”
“Promise?”
“There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to you or for you,” he promises. “But let’s get Jolie to her room.”
Bryce sweeps her into his arms. She had put on her gown and brushed her teeth while he was working in his office, so he eases her right into bed. He kisses her good night on the forehead, and I follow.
After tucking her in, he pulls me close, tickling my skin with his lips hovering. “I want to know your biggest fantasy, then I’m going to make it come true.”
Naughty thoughts run wild, but then there’s the little angel whispering in my ear thoughts I shouldn’t admit.
He removes my shorts and uses his finger and thumb to roll my nipples between his fingers. “Rusti, you’re safe with me, as long as it’s not another man and me crossing swords.”
I chuckle. “Don’t worry, not on my list.”
“Tell me, and I’ll tell you mine.”
Chest to chest, I can feel my heart racing, anxiety ramping up with nervousness. I find myself hesitating, fearing he’ll judge me or worse—laugh. Sparks ignite as he touches me, and I can’t hold back the desire consuming every part of my body.
“Bathtub, with candles and flower petals.”
His thumb sweeps across my bottom lip and presses lightly. There’s no smile on his face, just an impenetrable gaze on my lips.

Interview with Kristin Lee
Q: Hi, Kristin. Tell us more about yourself.
KL: My boys are 12 years apart. My teenager is my biggest oops and such a BLESSING! I spend my nights at basketball, baseball and MMA.
Q: Tell us about your heroine. What inspired her quirks and struggles?
KL: Since Emmaline was jilted in the bride’s dressing room on her wedding day, she had to find something for herself and she found Jujitsu (which my son does as part of MMA) It helps her to feel confident and strong. She rambles when she gets nervous. In the beginning of Hat Trick Holidate, she’s worried about being plus size but by the end, she realizes how beautiful she is. I hope women reading this love story find the same realization… we are all beautifully built.
Q: Is any part of your story or the characters based on personal experience?
KL: Usually there is some part of the story that either someone in my family or I have experienced. In Hat Trick Holidate, the MMC is an only child because his brother died in a car wreck with the MMC. Even though Hat Trick Holidate is a romcom, I always feel it necessary to add in a painful experience.
I used an experience from my dad. He was a big-time football star getting recruited by all the major Southeastern Conference teams when he had an accident and his best friend who was a basketball star died in the car wreck.
My dad never truly forgave himself and the scars it left on his body, head and heart were never fully repaired.
Q: Do you listen to music while writing?
KL: I do listen to music while I write. It’s weird because I’m usually singing along while writing and my husband will walk into my office and laugh. Music awakens my creative juices and I have a hard time writing without it unless I’m in a deep dive into my work in progress.
For this book I love the country song by Carrie Underwood & Cody Johnson, “I’m Gonna Love You.” But I listen to different music for each book so this time it was Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone duets, Josh Ross and J. Cole.
Q: Name a few of your favorite authors or books.
KL: My favorite authors are:
Nelson DeMille, The Charm School
Tiffany Reisz, The Bourbon Thief
Vince Flynn, Memorial Day
Helena Hunting, Little Lies
Meghan Quinn, The entire Brentwood Boys Series
Melanie Harlow, Make Me Yours
Devney Perry, Letters to Molly
There are so many more but as you can see I love a little mystery so many of my books have a number of unexpected twists.
Q: What was your dream job as a kid?
KL: I wanted to be a sportscaster. Somehow when I got to college I changed to fashion merchandising. I don’t regret it because I worked for the J Peterman Company, a high-quality fashion catalog. Seinfeld made the owner a pop culture icon. In real life, John Peterman was incredibly interesting and when he was in town, he had around 10 employees to lunch and we just listened.
But my love for sports is just as strong as it was when I was kid, playing all of the sports, plus dancing and cheering. If I ever get a dream wish, it will be to be a sideline reporter for college or professional football.
Q: Is anyone you know personally on your covers?
KL: Yes, I used to be a cheer coach and on the original covers for Stealing a Second Chance is former cheerleaders of mine along with my cousin as the MMC. They both fit my characters perfectly. It was so fun doing the photo shoot.
This Or That ?
Coffee or Tea? Tea

Book or Movie? Books in volume, but I do love movies.
Print or Ebook? Ebook to read, Print PB to look at and sit on my shelves.
Early or Late? On time… like on the dot kind of person.
Dog or Cat? Dogs, just because that is what I grew up with and my writing partner is a Cavapoo, Milo who keeps me warm while I write.
